Emacs For Mac Os X

Mac OS classic support is now part of the standard distribution. I also have a preliminary port of GNU Emacs 21 for Mac OS X that will be released when GNU Emacs 21 is released. But I'll be happy to answer questions on the Emacs 20 port in the mean time.

  1. Aquamacs Emacs 3.5 (Mac OS 10.12+ Sierra or later) or Download Version 3.5 for Mac OS El Capitan (only). Official release: stable, reliable, recommended! Based on GNU Emacs 25.3; For all Macs running OS X 10.12 (Sierra) or later, or 10.11 (El Capitan).
  2. Emacs-Plus opens 3 separate window frames plus a 4th for.GNU Emacs. Emacs for Mac OS X opens one divided window frame. The last file is on top, with the.GNU Emacs. buffer on the bottom. That invites Control-X 4 B to open the next-to-the-last buffer on the bottom. From there it's an easy path to M-x compare-windows or whatever.
  3. I use the same emacs config in my windows 7 and osx. By default, I don't blink the cursor by setting (blink-cursor-mode 0). In osx, when I type a non-candicate of auto-complete(for example, typin.
  4. Aquamacs is an Emacs for Mac OS X that will feel mostly like an Aqua program - while still being a real GNU Emacs with all the ergonomy and extensibility you've come to expect from this world-class editor.
